Our programs aim to create safe spaces, foster literacy, and support youth development. Explore the unique opportunities we offer for youth, families, and communities to come together and grow. Our initiatives include
Our Author Visits bring Egypt Bush, a 10-year-old bestselling author and CEO of BeingEgypt, directly to students in interactive sessions. Egypt shares her journey as a young author, inspiring children to embrace reading, explore their own creativity, and recognize the endless possibilities within themselves. Each session fosters a love for literature and empowers youth to believe in their potential.
Our Creative Expression Workshops empower youth to become published authors and skilled content creators. Participants engage in creative writing, learning the entire process from drafting to publication, instilling pride and a sense of achievement. Additionally, they explore digital storytelling and podcast production, developing communication skills and confidence to share their voices with the world. These workshops foster teamwork and equip students with essential 21st-century media skills.
Our hands-on apprenticeship program teaches young individuals essential barbering skills, fostering self-reliance and employability. Graduates give back by providing free haircuts at community events, fostering a cycle of empowerment and service.
In our Parent Workshops, we offer parents valuable insights and resources to support their children’s literacy, emotional resilience, and overall well-being. These sessions equip parents with strategies to nurture their children’s development, confidence, and love of learning. Together, we’re building stronger families and communities that prioritize education and emotional health.
In our Anti-Bullying and Anti-Violence Workshops, we address the root causes of bullying and violence, equipping students with practical strategies to foster safe and inclusive environments. These sessions provide tools for empathy, respect, and conflict resolution, empowering youth to stand up against bullying and create supportive communities.
The Kindness Carnival is an annual event held every October to kick off Anti-Bullying Month. Now in its second year, the 2024 carnival drew thousands of attendees and brought together families, sponsors, community members, and local leaders to promote kindness and unity against bullying. Led by Egypt Bush, the event offers a variety of activities, resources, and services—all completely free—to create an inclusive space for everyone. Join us in supporting this important cause and be part of the movement to spread kindness and stand up against bullying!
Our program celebrates the bond between fathers and their children. Through engaging panel discussions and free haircuts for kids, we aim to strengthen this bond in the unique setting of a local barbershop. Fathers enjoy meaningful conversations on fatherhood while their children receive complimentary haircuts. Additionally, we promote literacy by providing barbershops with bookshelves filled with books for kids to enjoy during their visits. Join us in celebrating fatherhood, promoting literacy, and creating lasting memories for families in our community.
